Kathleen smiled. "Dear oh dear. At least you have a better chance of obtaining the Doctor now. He's human. You can charm him." she sighed and shook her head. "I on the other hand am a widow. A widow with a child on the way. Why do you humans have to declare so much war." she frowned and glanced through the gap in the door. "Well Miss Smith has left. Would you like to help me clear the table Rose?"

"Charm him.. I think you forget dear Kathleen. I probably have less of a chance now.. I'm nothing but a simple servant to the Smith family.. Always will be, if he stays like that. Nothing's ever become of a simple servant and the master of a house... Not even a master as kind as this one seems to be. Mr John Smith is certainly far out of my leauge" Rose said somewhat sadly. Even in this world there was no hope. "Well... of course I'll help.. Duties come first no?" she chuckeld as she hopped up from the table, and set up the old rickety stairs to the main part of the house, where Mr Smith still sat at the dining table, reading.
"Mr Smith, should you not have left for work already?" she asked glancing at the clock on the wall just behind him. Servants may have been nothing more than civil workers around the house, but in the 20th century it was not uncommon to have a friendly relationship with the household, as long as it was civil, polite and kept well in order.

Kathleen smiled at Rose. “Don't worry about it deary, true love will bridge any gap." she took a deep preparation breath. "Perfect smiles on. Dirty aprons off.” She said tossing her apron on the table. “Lets go and talk to Mr Smith.” Pushing the swinging door of the kitchen open she stepped into the dining room and headed straight for the dirty dishes. “Morning Mr Smith. I hope the meal was to your liking this morning.” She said beginning to stack the dishes but pausing for a moment. A look of discomfort passed her face as a small but sharp pain travelled through the side of her stomach, placing a hand on her stomach she smiled, trying to hide the pain that vanished almost as fast as it had appeared.

"Oh I am going now" he said putting his coat on and his hat "I hope you have a good dday Ms. Tyler" he said before walking out and towards the school. Soon a bell was ringing but couldn't hear much from the Smith House.

Kathleen sighed as he left. "Good Morning Mrs Carter. Yes the food was lovely as usual. Thankyou for putting so much effort in." she said mimicking what she wished he had said. "A little appreciation of the fat pregnant cook wouldn't go too far now would it?" she asked Rose as they cleared the table.

"Oh... Have a good day Mr Smith, Sir" she called out with a small wave, a smile splashed across her face as she cleared his dishes into one hand, but noticed the small little ounce of discomfort come over Kathleens face. "Kathleen?" she frowned, placing the dishes back on the table once more, and moving to her friends side. 'Are you alright? Little one not doing you any harm, are they?" she asked with a small friendly chuckle. "You listen to me little child. Don't you hurt your mother, she needs to look after the Smith family.. Can't have her in bed all day, leaving aunt Rose to cater to all the Smiths needs and wants now"

Kathleen smiled at Rose. "Hey it might listen to you." she shook her head. "No I'm sure it's just kicking. But I might have a bit of a nap before they come back for lunch. That way I can concentrate on the food and all."

"Good idea. You go have a nap, I can wake you in time for the lunch duties. If you do need anything, don't hesitate to ring that little bell of yours. I'll come running. You do look very... Very pregnant.. Wouldn't be suprised if we had a little girl or boy running 'round the kitchens in time for Thanksgiving.. They do have thanksgiving here... Don't they?" she frowned before shrugging her slender shoulders. "Ahh, never mind. We'll come to that when it comes along. All in due course. Now.. I'll go wash up... Settle down with a nice glass of red, and read with my feet up on the table... All sounds very nice... "

Kathleen smiled. "I kinda hope not. Considering the kid would be blue and all. Now that would be hard to explain." she said and chuckled slightly. "You know, one day they're going to realise that their wine is disappearing. And well, they always blame the servants first."

"Blue... These people aren't the most noticable poeple when it comes to the staff, and their affairs.. I'm sure they wouldn't even notice" Rose laughed before giving a small shrug of her shoulders yet again. "A glass of red wine a day.. I doubt they'll even notice. At least, I hope not.. I know they wouldn't ask Henry or Jackie if they'd taken any wine.. They're far too... I don't know... Far too, nice" she laughed- speaking about two of the other household servants. "You know Mr smith has a glass every night... He'll never even realise.. He'll think he's just had a few more... Now weren't you going to go rest? Off you go.. off with you now.. Off those swollen ankles.. The only way to get rid of them is to rest"

Kathleen smiled and shook her head. "The only way to get rid of them is to go through hours of painful labour." she sighed. "Alright I'm off. Wake me as soon as you see him coming, and then I can start cooking." she said and headed straight for her small bed, and without getting change lowered herself down onto the cot and as soon as her head hit the pillow fell right to sleep.

Lisa walked into the house frowning before taking her coat off and walked to Rose "I saw a strange man today, wearing like a metal suit or something" she said then John came in.

Rose had been in the living room, reading the paper- as she quite often did when the Smith's were at school, or out for the day- but the second she heard that front wooden gate squeak open, she'd fold it neatly and hop up- straightening out her uniform as she went. "Oh.. Miss Smith.. Home earlier than expected" she said with a small smile, and curtsied to Mr Smith as he came in the front door after his daughter. "A strange man in a metal suit? How strange. These halloween costumes of your schools are getting far more inventive than ever before" she grinned. "What did it look like?" Rose asked, having a sneaking suspicion this meant more than just a simple halloween costume. But not wanting to jump to any conclusions just yet, she'd wait and see.
